Amos 8:10 - Y'all Version Bible

10 I will turn y’all’s feasts into mourning, and all y’all’s songs into lamentation. I will make everyone wear sackcloth on their bodies, and baldness on every head. I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.

She went and sat down opposite him, a good way off, about a bow shot away. For she said, “Don’t let me see the death of the child.” She sat opposite him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.


When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.


Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own. Let a cloud dwell on it. Let all that makes the day black terrify it.


Therefore my harp has turned to mourning, and my pipe into the voice of those who weep.


Instead of sweet spices, there will be rottenness; instead of a belt, a rope; instead of well dressed hair, baldness; instead of a fine clothes, a sackcloth; and branding instead of beauty.


“Your own wickedness will correct you, and your backsliding will rebuke you. Therefore you must know and see that it is an evil and bitter thing, that you have forsaken YHWH your God, and that my fear is not in you,” says the Lord, YHWH Almighty.


For every head is bald, and every beard clipped. There are cuttings on all the hands, and sackcloth on the waist.


Daughter of my people, clothe yourself with sackcloth, and wallow in ashes! Mourn, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation, for the destroyer will suddenly come on us.


The joy of our heart has ceased. Our dance is turned into mourning.


They will also clothe themselves with sackcloth, and horror will cover them. Shame will be on all faces, and baldness on all their heads.


“You, son of humanity, Lord YHWH says to the land of Israel, ‘An end! The end has come on the four corners of the land.


I will also cause all her celebrations to cease: her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies.


I will visit on her the days of the Baals, to which she burned incense when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers and forgot me,” says YHWH.


Mourn like a virgin dressed in sackcloth for the husband of her youth!


“If a man’s hair has fallen from his head, he is bald. He is clean.


I hate and despise y’all’s feasts, and I take no pleasure from smell of y’all’s solemn assemblies.


Take away from me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.


The songs of the temple will be wailing in that day,” says Lord YHWH. “The dead bodies will be many. In every place they will throw them out with silence.


For entangled like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly like dry stubble.


I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and of supplication. They will look to me whom they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for his only son, and will grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for his firstborn.


Rejoice in your feast, you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your gates.
