Can a corrupt throne be allied with you, one that creates trouble by decree?


Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.


You said, ‘I will be a princess forever,’ so that you didn’t lay these things to your heart, nor did you remember the results.


“Y’all come,” they say, “I will get wine, and we will fill ourselves with beer; and tomorrow will be as today, great beyond measure.”


Those who ate delicacies are desolate in the streets. Those who were brought up in purple embrace dunghills.


“Son of humanity, what is this proverb that y’all have in the land of Israel, saying, ‘The days are prolonged, and every vision fails?’


“Son of humanity, notice that the house of Israel is saying, ‘The vision that he sees is for many days to come, and he prophesies of times that are far off.’


“The voice of a multitude being at ease was with her. With men of the common sort were brought drunkards from the wilderness; and they put bracelets on their hands, and beautiful crowns on their heads.


“Indeed they don’t know to do right,” says YHWH, “Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces.”


Y’all must proclaim in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, “Y’all must assemble on the mountains of Samaria, and see what unrest is in her, and what oppression is among them.”


For I know how many are y’all’s offenses, and how great are y’all’s sins— Oppressing the just, taking a bribe, turning away the needy in the courts.


“Woe to all who desire the day of YHWH! Why do y’all long for the day of YHWH? It is darkness, and not light.


Do horses run on cliffs? Can one plow there with oxen? But y’all have turned justice into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness,


All the sinners of my people will die by the sword, who say, ‘Evil won’t overtake nor meet us.’


Her rich men are full of violence, her inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their speech.


But if an evil slave says in their heart, ‘My master is staying away for a long time,’


While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, like birth pains on a pregnant woman, and then there will be no escape.


and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since our ancestors fell asleep, everything continues as it was from the beginning of the creation.”


For in a single hour such vast riches have been laid waste.’ Every shipmaster, and everyone who sails somewhere, and sailor, and as many as earn their living by sea, stood far away
