The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.


When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer,


So Solomon held the feast at that time, and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt, before YHWH our God, seven days and seven more days, even fourteen days.


The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, from Cuthah, from Avva, and from Hamath and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they possessed Samaria and lived in its cities.


The men of Babylon made Succoth Benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,


Where are the gods of Hamath and of Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? Have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?


Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah?’”


He went out and fought against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and among the Philistines.


Concerning Damascus: “Hamath and Arpad are confounded, for they have heard evil news. They have melted away. There is sorrow on the sea. It can’t be quiet.


Are you better than Thebes, who was situated among the Nile, who had the waters around her, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was of the sea?


As he talked with them, suddenly the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, came up out of the ranks of the Philistines, and said the same words, and David heard them.


A champion out of the camp of the Philistines named Goliath of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span went out.


So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. As the ark of God came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel here to us, to kill us and our people.”


They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, “What should we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” They answered, “Have the ark of the God of Israel be moved to Gath.” So they moved the ark of the God of Israel there.
