Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days.


They didn’t see one another, and nobody rose from his place for three days; but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.


I will set apart in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies will be there, to the end you may know that I am YHWH on the earth.


Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no hail.


YHWH will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt; and nothing will die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.”’”


I will lay it a wasteland. It won’t be pruned or hoed, but it will grow briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain on it.”


Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, YHWH our God? Therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.


Their nobles send their little servants for waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.


Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed. They cover their heads.


Therefore the showers have been withheld and there has been no latter rain; yet you have had a prostitute’s forehead and you refused to be ashamed.


“Y’all be glad then, children of Zion, and y’all rejoice in YHWH, your* God; for ʜᴇ gives you the early rain in just measure, and ʜᴇ causes the rain to come down for y’all, the early rain and the latter rain, as before.


It will be that whoever of all the families of the earth doesn’t go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, YHWH Almighty, on them there will be no rain.


Don’t y’all say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest?’ Look! I am telling y’all, lift up your* eyes and see that the fields are white for harvest already.


For who makes you superior? And what do you have that you didn’t receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?


Then YHWH’s anger be kindled against y’all, and ʜᴇ shut will up the sky so that there it will not rain, and the land will not yield its fruit. Y’all will perish quickly from the good land that YHWH is giving y’all.


Elijah was a human like us. He prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn’t rain on the earth for three years and six months.


They have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophecy. They hold power over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every plague as often as they want.
