In those days YHWH began to cut away parts of Israel, and Hazael struck them in all the borders of Israel


YHWH’s anger burned against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, continually.


For he didn’t leave to Jehoahaz of the people any more than fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria destroyed them and made them like the dust in threshing.


Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash their little ones in pieces, and rip up their pregnant women.”


But YHWH hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he wouldn’t let them go.


Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and said to him, “This is what YHWH, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me.


I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will follow after them; and I will get honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies; and the Egyptians will know that I am YHWH.” They did so.


He said, “If you will listen-listen to the voice of YHWH your God will, do what is right in ʜɪꜱ eyes, pay attention to ʜɪꜱ commandments, and keep all ʜɪꜱ statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians, for I am YHWH who heals you.”


Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is God’s finger;” but Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them, as YHWH had spoken.

Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


therefore YHWH Almighty says, ‘See! I will punish them. The young men will die by the sword. Their sons and their daughters will die by famine.


“I will appoint over them four kinds of judgment,” says YHWH: “the sword to kill, the dogs to tear, the birds of the sky, and the animals of the earth, to devour and to destroy.


“They will die grievous deaths. They will not be lamented, neither will they be buried. They will be like dung on the surface of the ground. They will be consumed by the sword and by famine. Their dead bodies will be food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth.”


Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives become childless and widows. Let their men be killed and their young men struck by the sword in battle.


Moab is laid waste, her towns invaded, and her choicest young men have gone down to the slaughter,” says the King, whose name is YHWH Almighty.


Therefore her young men will fall in her streets, and all the men of war will be brought to silence in that day,” says YHWH Almighty.


YHWH, don’t your eyes look on truth? You have stricken them, but they were not grieved. You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than a rock. They have refused to return.


Therefore I am full of YHWH’s wrath. I am weary with holding it in. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife will be taken, the aged with him who is full of days.


Speak, “YHWH says, “‘Human corpses will fall like dung on the open field, and as the handful after the harvester. No one will gather them.’”


“They won’t return into the land of Egypt; but the Assyrian will be their king, because they refused to repent.


But I will remove the northern army far away from y’all, and will drive it into a barren and desolate land, its front into the eastern sea, and its back into the western sea; and its stench will come up, and its bad smell will rise.” Surely ʜᴇ has done great things.


then I will do this to y’all: I will appoint terror over y’all, a wasting disease and fever that will consume the eyes and drain the soul. Y’all will sow your* seed in vain, for y’all’s enemies will eat it.


I will bring a sword upon y’all that will execute the vengeance of the covenant. When y’all gather in y’all’s cities, I will send the contamination among y’all. Y’all will be delivered into the hand of the enemy.


“I also have given y’all cleanness of teeth in all y’all’s cities, and lack of bread in every town; yet y’all haven’t returned to me,” says YHWH.


The songs of the temple will be wailing in that day,” says Lord YHWH. “The dead bodies will be many. In every place they will throw them out with silence.


I struck y’all with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of y’all’s hands, but y’all didn’t turn to me,’ declares YHWH.


YHWH will make the pestilence cling to you, until ʜᴇ has consumed you from off the land where you go in to possess it.


YHWH will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with fiery heat, with the sword, with blight, and with mildew. They will pursue you until you perish.


He will bring on you again all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they will cling to you.


YHWH will take all sickness away from you, and ʜᴇ will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you know, on you, but will lay them on all those who hate you.
