the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.


“If I have denied the desires of the poor from, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,


Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power, in holy array. Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth.


May there be an abundance of grain throughout the land. Its fruit sways like Lebanon. Let it flourish, thriving like the grass of the field.


Y’all must learn to do what is good. Y’all must meek justice, and relieve the oppressed. Y’all must defend the fatherless, and plead the case of the widow.”


In days to come, Jacob will take root. Israel will blossom and bud. They will fill the surface of the world with fruit.


Thanksgiving will proceed out of them with the voice of those who make merry. I will multiply them, and they will not be few; I will also glorify them, and they will not be small.


In you have they treated father and mother with contempt. Among you they have oppressed the foreigner. In you they have wronged the fatherless and the widow.


I will come near to y’all for judgment. I will be a swift witness against sorcerers, adulterers, perjurers, and those who exploit laborers, widows, and the fatherless, and who deprive the foreigner of justice, and don’t fear me,” says YHWH Almighty.

But many of those who heard the message believed, and the number of men came to be about five thousand.


And yet more believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women.


“We ordered y’all not to teach in this name. But look, y’all have filled Jerusalem with your* teaching, and y’all are determined to bring this man’s blood down on us.”


The Twelve called together the whole group of disciples and said, “It is not appropriate for us to forsake the word of God to minister at tables.


So the word of God spread, the number of the disciples increased rapidly in Jerusalem, and a large group of the priests became obedient to the faith.


He was speaking and debating with the Greek-speaking Jews, but they tried to kill him.


Peter got up and went with them, and when he arrived, they brought him to the upper room. All the widows stood around him, weeping and showing the robes and other garments that Dorcas had made while she was with them.


He gave her his hand and helped her stand her up. Then he called the saints and widows, and he presented her alive.

Y’all don’t grumble, as some of them did, and perished by the destroying angel.


Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the descendants of Abraham? So am I.

Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.


Or do y’all think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?


Don’t y’all grumble against one another, my siblings, so that y’all won’t be judged. Look, the judge is standing at the door!
