Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Say it, teacher,” he replied.


So the detachment of soldiers with its commanding officer and the Jewish officials seized Jesus and bound him,


About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.


Paul summoned one of the centurions and said, “Bring this young man to the commander, for he has something to tell him.”


The commanding officer took him by the hand, drew him aside, and asked him privately, “What do you have to report to me?”


When it was decided that we should sail to Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners to a centurion of the Imperial Regiment named Julius.


After three days had passed, Paul called together the leaders of the Jews. When they had assembled, he said to them, “Brothers, although I had done nothing against our people or the customs of our ancestors, I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.


For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of y’all ethnic groups—


I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, urge y’all to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you* were called,


I would rather appeal to you on the basis of love. I, Paul, as an old man and also a prisoner of Jesus Christ,
