For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart.


The words of the wise are like goads; and like nails well fastened are words from the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.


The watchman said, “The morning comes, and also the night. If y’all want to ask, then y’all must inquire. Y’all must come back again.”


But of those who escape, they will escape and will be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, everyone in his iniquity.


I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and of supplication. They will look to me whom they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for his only son, and will grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for his firstborn.


So the crowds asked him, “Then what should we do?”


Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they asked him, “Teacher, what should we do?”


Then some soldiers asked him, “What about us? What should we do?” He replied, “Y’all must not take money from anyone by force or make false accusations. And y’all should be content with your* wages.”


When they heard this, they departed one by one, beginning with the oldest until only Jesus was left with the woman still standing in the middle.


“Siblings, it was necessary for the Scripture to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold through the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus.


I said, ‘What should I do, Lord?’ The Lord said to me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus. There you will be told about everything that you have been appointed to do.’


But when they heard this, they were split open with rage and wanted to murder them.


When they heard these things, their hearts were split open with rage, and they gnashed their teeth at him.


I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive, and I died.
