When he came out, he could not speak to them. They realized he had seen a vision in the temple, because he kept making signs to them but remained unable to speak.


But he motioned with his hand for them to be silent, and then narrated for them how the Lord had brought him out of prison. He said, “Y’all must report this to James and the siblings.” Then he left and went to another place.


Paul stood up, motioned with his hand, and said, “Men of Israel and those who fear God, y’all listen.


But when they recognized that he was a Jew, they all began shouting with voice for about two hours, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”


When he had given him permission, Paul stood on the stairs and motioned with his hand to the people. When there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Aramaic:


The governor motioned for him to speak, then Paul responded, “Because I know that you have been a judge of this ethnic group for many years, I gladly make my defense.


It is right for me to think this way about all y’all, because I have you* in my heart, since both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, all y’all are partakers of grace with me.


Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they might be taught not to blaspheme.


Alexander the coppersmith did much harm to me. The Lord will repay him according to his deeds.
