Now the apostles and the siblings who were in Judea heard that the ethnic groups had also received the word of God.


Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that arose because of Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word only to the Jews.


But there were some men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who went to Antioch and spoke to the Greeks also, proclaiming the good news about the Lord Jesus.


and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year, they met together with the church and taught a considerable number of people. The disciples were first called ‘Christians’ in Antioch.


At that time, some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.


This became a major argument and debate between them and Paul and Barnabas. So Paul, Barnabas, and some others of them were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.


Then it seemed good to the apostles, the elders, and the whole church to select men from among them and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, who were leading men among the siblings.


When he landed at Caesarea, he went up to Jerusalem and greeted the church, then went down to Antioch.


This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a convert to Judaism from Antioch.


When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.


But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He recounted how Saul had seen the Lord on the road, and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how at Damascus he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus.


But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.


But Timothy has just now come to us from y’all, and brought us good news of y’all’s faith and love, and that y’all have pleasant memories of us always, longing to see us, even as we also long to see y’all.
