David said to Michal, “It was before YHWH, who chose me above your father, and above all his house, to appoint me prince over the people of YHWH, over Israel. Therefore I will celebrate before YHWH.


In all places in which I have walked with all the children of Israel, did I say a word to anyone from the tribes of Israel whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people Israel, saying, ‘Why haven’t y’all not built me a house of cedar?’”’


Now therefore tell my servant David this: ‘YHWH Almighty says, “I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people, over Israel.


“Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, ‘YHWH, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Look, I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to the house of YHWH.


In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. YHWH your God said to you, ‘You will be shepherd of my people Israel and a leader over my people Israel.’”


Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of yours?”


Hᴇ tends ʜɪꜱ flock like a shepherd. Hᴇ gather the lambs in ʜɪꜱ arm, and carries them against ʜɪꜱ chest. Hᴇ gently leads those who are nursing.


Look, I have given him for a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander to the peoples.


I will set up one shepherd over them, and he will feed them, even my servant David. He will feed them, and he will be their shepherd.


He will stand and shepherd in the strength of YHWH, in the majesty of the name of YHWH his God. They will live, for then he will be great to the ends of the earth.


who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in, that the congregation of YHWH may not be as sheep which have no shepherd.”


‘You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people, Israel.’”


“I am the beautiful shepherd. The beautiful shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.


For it was fitting for ʜɪᴍ, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many sons and daughters to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.


But now your kingdom will not continue. YHWH has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and YHWH has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you have not kept that which YHWH commanded you.”


YHWH said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided a king for myself among his sons.”


Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.


But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.


David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely, and Saul set him over the men of war. It was good in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.


Please forgive the trespass of your servant. For YHWH will make-make my lord a sure house, because my lord fights YHWH’s battles. Evil will not be found in you all your days.


It will come to pass, when YHWH has done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you, and has appointed you prince over Israel,


“Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you are to anoint him to be prince over my people Israel. He will save my people out of the hand of the Philistines. I have looked on my people, for their cry has come to me.”
