Just then, David’s servants and Joab came from a raid and brought in a great plunder with them. But Abner was not with David in Hebron, for he had sent him away, and he had gone in peace.


The sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went out and came at about the heat of the day to the house of Ish-bosheth as he took his rest at noon.


David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, “As YHWH lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
