He said to them, “No, but y’all have come to see the vulnerable parts of our land!”


Y’all must send one of y’all to get y’all’s brother, while y’all remain bound, so that y’all’s words may be tested, whether there is truth in y’all. But if not, by the life of Pharaoh surely y’all are spies.”


Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed about them, and said to them, “Y’all are spies! Y’all have come to see the vulnerable parts of our land.”


But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Hasn’t David sent his servants to you to search the city, to spy it out, and to overthrow it?”


Then Joab came to the king and said, “What have you done? Look, Abner came to you. Why is it that you have sent him away, and he is already gone?


When Joab had come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner. They brought him back from the well of Sirah, but David didn’t know it.


When Abner had returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into the middle of the gate to speak with him quietly, and struck him there in the body, so that he died for the blood of Asahel his brother.


until I come and take y’all away to a land like your* own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and of honey, where y’all may live and not die. But y’all must not listen to Hezekiah when he persuades y’all, saying, “YHWH will deliver us.”


YHWH will guard your going out and your coming in, both now and forever more.


But I know your sitting down, your going out, your coming in, and your raging against me.


who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in, that the congregation of YHWH may not be as sheep which have no shepherd.”


There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, “He is a good man.” Others said, “Not so, he leads the multitude astray.”


The Pharisees answered them, “Y’all haven’t been deceived too, have y’all?


Therefore you have no excuse, you humans who judge. For in judging another, you condemn yourself because you who judge practice the same things.


You will be blessed when you come in, and you will be blessed when you go out.
