The king said also to Zadok the priest, “Aren’t you a seer? Return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.


Look, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son, and Jonathan, Abiathar’s son. Y’all must send to me everything that y’all hear from them.”


Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying by En Rogel, and a female servant used to go and report to them, and they went and told King David. They couldn’t risk being seen coming into the city.


Joab said to him, “You must not be the bearer of news today, but you must carry news another day. But today you must carry no news, because the king’s son is dead.”


“But come what may,” he said, “I will run.” He said to him, “Run!” Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the Plain, and outran the Cushite.


Then the Cushite came. The Cushite said, “Good news for my lord the king, for YHWH has avenged you today of all those who rose up against you.”


But you do see trouble and grief. You consider it to take it into your hand. You have been a helper to the victim and the fatherless.


to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the mortal human of the earth may terrorize them no more.


Rise up, YHWH, in your anger. Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries. Wake up for me. You have commanded judgment.


YHWH has made ʜɪᴍꜱᴇʟꜰ known. Hᴇ has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of ʜɪꜱ own hands. Meditation. Selah.


For you have upheld my just cause. You are seated on the throne judging righteously.


A runner runs to meet another, and a messenger to meet another, to announce that the king of Babylon and his city has been captured from end to end.


Don’t seek revenge, beloved, but y’all must leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay,” says the Lord.
