On the third day, a man came out of the camp from Saul, with his clothes torn and earth on his head. When he came to David, he fell to the earth and showed respect.


Tamar put ashes on her head, and tore her garment of various colors that was on her; and she laid her hand on her head and went her way, crying aloud as she went.


David went up by the ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered and went barefoot. All the people who were with him each covered his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.


When David was a little past the top, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth was there with a pair of saddled donkeys, and on them two hundred loaves of bread, and one hundred clusters of raisins, and one hundred summer fruits, and a container of wine.


Absalom and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.


Then Absalom said, “Now call Hushai the Archite also, and let’s hear likewise what he says.”


Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.


Baana the son of Hushai, in Asher and Bealoth;


Ahithophel was the king’s counselor. Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.


Rise up, YHWH! Save me, my God! For you have struck all of my enemies on the jaw. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.


Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”
