Absalom commanded his servants, saying, “Y’all watch until Amnon’s heart is merry with wine and I tell y’all, ‘Strike Amnon.’ Then y’all must kill him. Don’t be afraid. Haven’t I commanded y’all? Y’all must be courageous and valiant!”


Therefore he said to his servants, “Look, Joab’s field is near mine, and he has barley there. Y’all go there and set it on fire.” So Absalom’s servants set the field on fire.


The king said to him, “Go in peace.” So he arose and went to Hebron.


Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now why are y’all hesitating to restore the king?”


After this, David inquired of YHWH, saying, Should I go up into any of the cities of Judah?” YHWH told to him, “Go up.” David said, “Where should I go up?” Hᴇ said, “To Hebron.”


The time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.


In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.


Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, “Haven’t you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn’t know it?


Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet are to anoint him there king over Israel. Y’all blow the trumpet, and say, ‘Long live King Solomon!’


Then they hurried, and each man took his cloak, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew the trumpet, saying, “Jehu is king.”


So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before YHWH. They anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of YHWH by Samuel.


These are the numbers of the heads of those who were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of YHWH.


All these were men of war who could order the battle array, and came with a perfect heart to Hebron to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.
