Then the king answered the woman, “Please don’t hide anything from me that I ask you.” The woman said, “Let my lord the king now speak.”


Your servant Joab has done this thing to change the face of the matter. My lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.”


He has slandered your servant to my lord the king, but my lord the king is as an angel of God. Therefore do what is good in your eyes.


For all my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king; yet you set your servant among those who ate at your own table. What right therefore have I yet that I should appeal any more to the king?”


All Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged, and they were in awe of the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice.


Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this great people of yours?”


Is there injustice on my tongue? Can’t my taste discern mischievous things?


The crucible is for silver, and the furnace for gold; so a person is refined by their praise.


A person who flatters their neighbor spreads a net for their feet.


But solid food is for the mature, who by practicing habits of the mind are able to discern between excellence and worthlessness.


Just as we listened to Moses in all things, so will we listen to you. Only may YHWH your God be with you, as he was with Moses.
