Now a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel, and said, “YHWH says, ‘Have you seen all this great multitude? Watch, I will deliver it into your hand today. Then you will know that I am YHWH.’”


A man of God came near and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, “YHWH says, ‘Because the Syrians have said, “YHWH is a god of the hills but not a god of the valleys” I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you will know that I am YHWH.’”


Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead. You know that your servant feared YHWH. Now the creditor has come to take for himself my two children to be slaves.”


When she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught hold of his feet. Gehazi came near to thrust her away; but the man of God said, “Leave her alone, for her soul is troubled within her. YHWH has hidden it from me, and has not told me.”


Then she came and told the man of God. He said, “Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt, and you and your sons live on the rest.”


So the king of Israel sent word to the place that he warned him to guard. the man of God did this, not just once or twice, but many times.


One of his servants said, “No one, my lord king. The prophet Elisha prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”


Now the king of Syria was at war against Israel. He took counsel with his servants, saying, “My camp will be in such and such a place.”


He frustrates the plans of the crafty, so that their hands can’t perform their enterprise.


YHWH brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. Hᴇ makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.


YHWH’s eyes watch over knowledge, but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.


YHWH gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it. Then you showed me their doings.


Surely Lord YHWH will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.
