The thing which he did was evil in YHWH’s sight, and he killed him also.


Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in YHWH’s sight. So YHWH killed him.


“If someone sins against their neighbor, and an oath is laid on them to cause them to swear, and they comes and swears before your altar in this house,


then hear in heaven, and act, and judge your servants, condemning the wicked, to bring their way on their own head, and justifying the righteous, to give them according to their righteousness.


So the king didn’t listen to the people; for it was brought about by God, that YHWH might establish ʜɪꜱ word, which he spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.


As he talked with him, the king said to him, “Have we made you one of the king’s counselors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped, and said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”


There is no mediator between us, that might lay ʜɪꜱ hand on us both.


For you don’t delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering.

But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass near him, for YHWH your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that ʜᴇ might deliver him into your hand, as has taken place today.


For there is one God and one mediator between God and humans, the human Christ Jesus,


For if we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no more sacrifice for sins remains,


but only a fearful expectation of judgment and a zealous fire which will consume the adversaries.


Therefore he is also able to save completely those who draw near to God through him, because he lives forever to intercede for them.


For it was of YHWH to harden their hearts, to come against Israel in battle, that he might utterly destroy them, that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as YHWH commanded Moses.


Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house will never be removed with sacrifice or offering forever.”
