When those who bore the ark of YHWH had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened calf.


Ben Hadad said to him, “The cities which my father took from your father I will restore. You are to make streets for yourself in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria.” “I”, said Ahab, “will let you go with this covenant.” So he made a covenant with him and let him go.


This perfume could have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.”


But y’all must be careful when you are setting apart what is devoted for destruction. If y’all take from the devoted things, y’all will make the camp of Israel devoted for destruction and bring trouble on it.


When I saw among the plunder a beautiful Babylonian robe, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, then I coveted them and took them. Look, they are hidden in the ground in the middle of my tent, with the silver under it.”


Then the word of YHWH came to Samuel, saying,


Saul said, “They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the cattle, to sacrifice to YHWH your God. We have totally destroyed the rest.”


Why then didn’t you obey YHWH’s voice, but took the plunder, and did that which was evil in YHWH’s sight?”


Now go and strike Amalek. Y’all are to totally destroy all that they have. Don’t spare them, but kill both man and woman, infant and nursing baby, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’”


Because you didn’t obey YHWH’s voice, and didn’t execute his fierce wrath on Amalek, therefore YHWH has done this thing to you today.
