13 Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of YHWH your God, which he commanded you; for now YHWH would have established your kingdom on Israel forever.

Samuel said, “Does YHWH delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as obeying YHWH’s voice? Look! To obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen is better than the fat of rams.


Samuel said to him, “YHWH has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you.


YHWH said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided a king for myself among his sons.”


Then Saul said, “I have sinned. Return, my son David; for I will no more do you harm, because my life was precious in your eyes today. I have played the fool! I have been terribly wonrg.”
