As if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal and worshiped him.


Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal, y’all! Don’t let one of them escape!” They seized them, and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon and slaughtered them there.


But there was no one like Ahab, who sold himself to do that which was evil in YHWH’s sight, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.


The king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but YHWH hid them.


quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong in weakness, grew mighty in war, and put foreign armies to flight.
