Bathsheba went in to the king in his room. The king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.


She said to him, “My lord, you swore by YHWH your God to your servant, ‘Surely Solomon your son will reign after me, and he is to sit on my throne.’


They told the king, saying, “Look, Nathan the prophet!” When he came in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.


Then she said, “I ask one small petition of you. Don’t refuse me.” The king said to her, “Speak, my mother, for I will not refuse you.”


The king said again to Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, “What is your petition, queen Esther? It will be granted you. What is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it will be done.”


He said to her, “What is it that you want?” She said to him, “Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, one on your right and one on your left, in your empire.”


Jesus stopped and called them, and asked, “What do y’all want me to do for you*?”
