The froward nation, and advoutrous, seeketh a sign: there shall none other sign be given unto them, but the sign of the prophet Ionas. So left he them and departed.


¶ When Iesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,


¶ And when they came nye to Hierusalem, unto Bethphage, and Bethani, besides mount Olivete, he sent forth ij. of his disciples,


¶ And the Lord entered into Hierusalem, and into the temple. And when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.


And when even was come, he went out of the city.


¶ When he was in Bethania, in the house of Simon the leper, even as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment, called nard, that was pure and costly, and she brake the box and poured it on his head.


And Iesus avoided with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude followed him from Galilee and from Jewry,


¶ It fortuned as they went, that he entered into a certain town. And a certain woman named Martha, received him into her house.


¶ And it fortuned, when he was come nye to Bethphage and Bethany, besides mount Olivete, he sent two of his disciples


¶ And he led them out into Bethany, and lift up his hands, and blest them.


¶ A certain man was sick, named Lazarus of Bethania the town of Mary and her sister Martha.


Bethanie was nye unto Ierusalem, about xv. furlongs off,
