and greetings in the markets and to be called of men Rabbi.


¶ But ye shall not suffer yourselves to be called Rabbi, for one is your master, that is to wit Christ, and all ye are brethren.


¶ Ihon bare witness of him saying: This was he of whom I spake, he that cometh after me, was before me because he was yer then I.


The same came as a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all men through him might believe.


That was a true light, which lighteneth all men that come into the world.


If we let him scape thus all men will believe on him. And the romaynes shall come and take away our country and people.


The pharises therefore said among themselves: Ye see that we prevail nothing: lo all the world goeth away after him.


He came to Iesus by night, and said unto him: Master, we know that thou art, a teacher which art come from God. For no man could do such miracles as thou doest, except God were with him:


¶ As soon as the Lord had knowledge, how that it was come to the ears of the pharises, that Iesus made and baptised more disciples than Ihon


(though that Iesus himself baptised not: but his disciples)


¶ In the meanwhile his disciples prayed him saying: Master eat.


Ye sent unto Ihon, and he bare witness unto the truth:
