And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority dost thou these things? And who gave thee this authority?


In that hour Jesus said to the multitude, Are ye come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple and ye took me not.


And the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his teaching.


And they sought to seize him, but feared the multitude; for they knew he had spoken the parable against them; and leaving him, they went away.


And after two days was the feast of the passover and of unleavened bread; and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might apprehend him by subtlety, and put him to death.


I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not; but the scriptures must be fulfilled.


And found not what they might do; for all the people hung upon him to hear him.


And the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him the same hour; but they feared the people; for they knew he had spoken this parable against them.


Therefore they sought again to seize him; but he escaped out of their hand.


Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I was continually teaching in the synagogue and in the temple, whither all the Jews resort, and in secret have I said nothing.


Did not Moses give you the law?


And some of them would have seized him; but no man laid hands on him.
