Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The days of the years of my sojourn are 130 years. Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life. Moreover, the days of the years of my life have not attained the days of the years of the lives of my fathers, in the days of their sojourn.”


The king said to Barzillai, “Cross over with me, and I will provide for you with me in Jerusalem.”


My days fly faster than a weaver’s shuttle and come to an end without hope.


Man is like a breath— his days are like a passing shadow.


Remove Your scourge from me. I perish by the blow of Your hand.


Trust in Him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart in His presence. God is our refuge. Selah


How long, Adonai, will You hide Yourself? Forever? Will Your fury keep burning like fire?


So teach us to number our days, so that we may get a heart of wisdom.


Futile! Futile! says Kohelet. Completely meaningless! Everything is futile!


Yet when I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended to accomplish it, behold, it all was futile and chasing after the wind. There was nothing to be gained under the sun.


All the nations are as nothing before Him. By Him they are accounted null and void.


Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. What is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes.


But don’t forget this one thing, loved ones, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.
