Then he said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills, as sheep without a shepherd. Then Adonai said, ‘These have no master; let each of them return home in peace.’”


So he said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and Adonai said, ‘These have no master—let each man return home in shalom.”


It will be like a hunted gazelle, or like sheep with no one gathering. Each will return to his own people, each will flee to his own country.


My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds led them astray. Turning around in the mountains, they went from mountain to hill, and forgot their resting place.


They were scattered for lack of a shepherd. They became food for all the beasts of the field as they were scattered.


The idols utter deceit and diviners see lies. They relate false dreams and comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep, afflicted because there is no shepherd.


to go out and come in before them, who will lead them out and bring them out so that the people of Adonai will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”


As Yeshua came ashore, He saw a large crowd and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.


Yeshua called His disciples and said, “I have compassion for the crowd, because they’ve stayed with Me for three days now and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, because they might pass out on the way.”


When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.


However, the people saw them leaving, and many recognized them. They ran on foot from all the towns to get there ahead of them.


When it was already late, His disciples came to Him and said, “This place is isolated, and the hour is already late.


In those days, there was another large crowd with nothing to eat, and Yeshua called the disciples. He said to them,


“I have compassion for the crowd, because they’ve stayed with Me for three days now and have nothing to eat.


But the crowds found out and followed Him. So Yeshua welcomed them and began speaking to them about the kingdom of God and curing those in need of healing.


Therefore He had to be made like His brothers in all things, so He might become a merciful and faithful Kohen Gadol in matters relating to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.


For we do not have a kohen gadol who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all the same ways—yet without sin.
