He has made me a byword to people, I am the one in whose face people spit.


All my close friends despise me; those I love have turned against me.


Therefore I despise myself, and repent on dust and ashes.”


Your wrath lies heavily on me. You afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah


All a poor man’s relatives despise him— how much more his friends avoid him. He pursues them with words, but they are not there.


I gave My back to those who strike, and My cheeks to those pulling out My beard; I did not hide My face from humiliation and spitting.


Let him offer his cheek to the one who strikes him. Let him have his fill of disgrace.


All our enemies opened their mouth wide against us.
