“I have been very zealous for Adonai Tzva’ot,” he said, “for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and slain Your prophets with the sword—and I alone am left, and they are seeking to take my life!”


Yet I have preserved seven thousand in Israel whose knees have not bowed to Baal and whose mouth has not kissed him.”


Even if He slays me, I will wait for Him; I will surely defend my ways before Him.


The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.


Nebuchadnezzar exclaimed, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him! They defied the king’s edict and gave up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.


“Do not turn to idols, or make molten gods for yourselves. I am Adonai your God.


And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.


He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.


But He replied to them, “When evening comes, you say, ‘Fair weather coming, for the sky is red,’


But Peter and John replied, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you decide.


Instead he chose to suffer mistreatment along with the people of God, rather than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin.


If it seems bad to you to worship Adonai, then choose for yourselves today whom you will serve—whether the gods that your fathers worshipped that were beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will worship Adonai!”


They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives even in the face of death.
