When Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by himself. But the crowds heard about it and followed him on foot from the towns.


And when Jesus went ashore and saw a large crowd, he was moved with compassion for them and healed their sick.


But Jesus said to them, “They have no need to go away; you give them something to eat.”


But he did not respond to her at all. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she is crying out after us.”


If I send them away to their homes without having eaten, they will faint on the way, for some of them have come from far away.”


As the day began to draw to a close, the twelve came up and said to Jesus, “Send the crowd away so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and provisions, for we are in a desolate place here.”
