Simon and his companions searched diligently for him,


Jesus said to them, “Let us go into the neighboring towns so that I may preach there also, for that is why I have come.”


The whole Judean countryside was going out to him, and so were the people of Jerusalem. They were all being baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.


If we allow him to continue like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away our holy place and our nation.”


So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are achieving nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him.”


So John's disciples came and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with yoʋ beyond the Jordan, about whom yoʋ have testified, behold, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”
