The tombs were opened, and the bodies of many saints who had fallen asleep were raised.


he said to them, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they began laughing at him.


Then he went in and said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping.”


But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”


His disciples said, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.”


(They thought Jesus was speaking about natural sleep, but he was actually speaking about Lazarus' death.)


So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, behold, the one yoʋ love is sick.”


He who has the bride is the bridegroom. But the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and listens for him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine has been made full.


Then he fell to his knees and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” After saying this, he fell asleep.


Furthermore, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have also perished.


Come to your senses, as is right, and stop sinning. For there are some who are ignorant of God. I say this to your shame.


Behold, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,


Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine upon yoʋ.”


who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we may live together with him.


And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God.
