So the crowds were saying, “This is Jesus the prophet, who is from Nazareth of Galilee.”


Nevertheless, I must go on my way today, tomorrow, and the following day, for it is unthinkable that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.


He said to them, “What things?” So they said to him, “The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,


For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.


I have come into the world as light, so that no one who believes in me should remain in darkness.


Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.


Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will certainly not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”


This is the same Moses who said to the sons of Israel, ‘The Lord our God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers.’


For what the law was powerless to do since it was weak through the flesh, God has done. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,


To them belong the patriarchs, and from them, according to the flesh, came the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.


But when the fullness of time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
