22 They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the entire Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for yoʋ to come to his house and to hear a message from yoʋ.”

Her husband Joseph, being righteous and not willing to shame her publicly, intended to send her away privately.


And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their own country by another way.


For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he protected him. When Herod listened to John, he would listen to him gladly and do many things.


If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”


And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.


Now there was a good and righteous man named Joseph, who was a member of the council


If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and the holy angels.


Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me.”


“I do not ask on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word,


For I have given them the words that yoʋ gave me, and they have received them and truly know that I came from yoʋ. They have also come to believe that yoʋ sent me.


Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.


It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is of no benefit. The words that I speak to you are spirit and life.


Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? Yoʋ have the words of eternal life.


He was a devout man who feared God along with his entire household; he gave generously to those in need and always prayed to God.


So Peter went down to the men and said, “Behold, I am the one you are looking for. For what reason have you come?”


Cornelius said, “Four days ago I was fasting until this hour. At the ninth hour I was praying in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing.


So I sent for yoʋ at once, and yoʋ have done well by coming. Now then, we are all here in the presence of God to hear all that yoʋ have been commanded by God.”


He is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the sea.”


he will speak a message to yoʋ by which yoʋ will be saved, yoʋ and yoʋr entire household.’


“Now a certain Ananias, a devout man according to the law, who was well spoken of by all the Jews dwelling there,


having a hope in God, which these men themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the righteous and the unrighteous.


Therefore, brothers, look for seven men among you who have a good reputation and are full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we can appoint for this need.


For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written, “The righteous will live by faith.”


And all these things are from God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,


He must also have a good reputation among outsiders, so that he may not fall into the reproach and snare of the devil.


But the righteous one will live by faith; and if he shrinks back, my soul takes no pleasure in him.”


Because of their faith, the people of old were commended.


to the festive gathering and assembly of the firstborn, whose names are enrolled in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous people who have been made perfect.


so that you remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the commandment of our Lord and Savior given through your apostles.


Demetrius is well spoken of by everyone, and by the truth itself. We also speak well of him, and you know that our testimony is true.


he too will drink of the wine of the wrath of God that has been mixed undiluted in the cup of his anger. He will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
