For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God take away life, but deviseth means, that he that is banished be not an outcast from him.


For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as all our fathers were: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no abiding.


How much more them that dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Which are crushed before the moth!


(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, Because our days upon earth are a shadow:)


My days are like a shadow that declineth; And I am withered like grass.


I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.


When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, Thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: Surely every man is vanity. Selah
