They turn the needy out of the way: The poor of the earth hide themselves together.


Because I delivered the poor that cried, The fatherless also, that had none to help him.


I was a father to the needy: And the cause of him that I knew not I searched out.


If the men of my tent said not, Who can find one that hath not been satisfied with his flesh?


Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; For the faithful fail from among the children of men.


He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: But he that hath pity on the poor, happy is he.


He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: But he that hath mercy on the needy honoureth him.


Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: And he that is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.


He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD, And his good deed will he pay him again.


He that augmenteth his substance by usury and increase, Gathereth it for him that hath pity on the poor.


But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD'S flock is taken captive.


Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away thy fury from them.


Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.


And when he drew nigh, he saw the city and wept over it,


Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep.


as it is written, He hath scattered abroad, he hath given to the poor; His righteousness abideth for ever.
