and he remained with them six years, hid in the house of God, while Athaliah reigned over the land.


Why dost thou stand afar off, O Lord? Why dost thou hide thyself in times of trouble?


Thou art my hiding place and my shield; I hope in thy word.


Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou dost preserve my life; thou dost stretch out thy hand against the wrath of my enemies, and thy right hand delivers me.


Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of thy wings,


He made my feet like hinds' feet, and set me secure on the heights.


In the covert of thy presence thou hidest them from the plots of men; thou holdest them safe under thy shelter from the strife of tongues.


Blessed be the Lord, for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me when I was beset as in a besieged city.


He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.


He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.


God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

They lay crafty plans against thy people; they consult together against thy protected ones.


He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty,


When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will rescue him and honor him.


The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.


O Lord, in distress they sought thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.


Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the wrath is past.


Each will be like a hiding place from the wind, a covert from the tempest, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shade of a great rock in a weary land.


“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!


For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
