4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David sought the face of the Lord. And the Lord said, “There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.”


Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.


I wash my hands in innocence, and go about thy altar, O Lord,


O Lord, I love the habitation of thy house, and the place where thy glory dwells.


Thou hast said, “Seek ye my face.” My heart says to thee, “Thy face, Lord, do I seek.”


Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.


Blessed is he whom thou dost choose and bring near, to dwell in thy courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, thy holy temple!


For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.


Blessed are those who dwell in thy house, ever singing thy praise! Selah
