He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, as the house of Ahab had done; for after the death of his father they were his counselors, to his undoing.


Thou dost spurn all who go astray from thy statutes; yea, their cunning is in vain.


The strong tower of the wicked comes to ruin, but the root of the righteous stands firm.


Truthful lips endure for ever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.


No ill befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble.


I have not pressed thee to send evil, nor have I desired the day of disaster, thou knowest; that which came out of my lips was before thy face.


And as for the two kings, their minds shall be bent on mischief; they shall speak lies at the same table, but to no avail; for the end is yet to be at the time appointed.


It is he who shall build the temple of the Lord, and shall bear royal honor, and shall sit and rule upon his throne. And there shall be a priest by his throne, and peaceful understanding shall be between them both.” ’

They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips,


Strive for peace with all men, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
