He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”


Now when the king dwelt in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies round about,


And as soon as I have gone from you, the Spirit of the Lord will carry you whither I know not; and so, when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, although I your servant have revered the Lord from my youth.


And Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah revered the Lord greatly;


Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.


O Lord, let thy ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants who delight to fear thy name; and give success to thy servant today, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” Now I was cupbearer to the king.


When the affair was investigated and found to be so, the men were both hanged on the gallows. And it was recorded in the Book of the Chronicles in the presence of the king.


On that night the king could not sleep; and he gave orders to bring the book of memorable deeds, the chronicles, and they were read before the king.


And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.’ ”


In the pride of his countenance the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.”


I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.


The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who practice it. His praise endures for ever!


he will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great.


I am a companion of all who fear thee, of those who keep thy precepts.


Even before a word is on my tongue, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.


but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.

But now, if thou wilt forgive their sin—and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.”


He who walks with wise men becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.


Thou dost keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusts in thee.


In the path of thy judgments, O Lord, we wait for thee; thy memorial name is the desire of our soul.


And he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy, every one who has been recorded for life in Jerusalem,


Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant, who walks in darkness and has no light, yet trusts in the name of the Lord and relies upon his God?


Behold, it is written before me: “I will not keep silent, but I will repay, yea, I will repay into their bosom


I have heard Ephraim bemoaning, ‘Thou hast chastened me, and I was chastened, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for thou art the Lord my God.


I have given heed and listened, but they have not spoken aright; no man repents of his wickedness, saying, ‘What have I done?’ Every one turns to his own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle.


And the Lord said to him, “Go through the city, through Jerusalem, and put a mark upon the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.”


“At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time; but at that time your people shall be delivered, every one whose name shall be found written in the book.


A stream of fire issued and came forth from before him; a thousand thousands served him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him; the court sat in judgment, and the books were opened.


“Then I will draw near to you for judgment; I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow and the orphan, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.


But for you who fear my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings. You shall go forth leaping like calves from the stall.


And coming up at that very hour she gave thanks to God, and spoke of him to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.


and when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James.


a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms liberally to the people, and prayed constantly to God.


When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.


So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was built up; and walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit it was multiplied.


addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart,


Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.


And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.


and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,


See to it that no one fail to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” spring up and cause trouble, and by it the many become defiled;


But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.


Who shall not fear and glorify thy name, O Lord? For thou alone art holy. All nations shall come and worship thee, for thy judgments have been revealed.”


And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done.
