And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, seeing that thou, our God, hast punished us less than our iniquities deserved and hast given us such a remnant as this,


For he knows worthless men; when he sees iniquity, will he not consider it?


and that he would tell you the secrets of wisdom! For he is manifold in understanding. Know then that God exacts of you less than your guilt deserves.


that he would maintain the right of a man with God, like that of a man with his neighbor.


There an upright man could reason with him, and I should be acquitted for ever by my judge.


He shatters the mighty without investigation, and sets others in their place.


If one wished to contend with him, one could not answer him once in a thousand times.


Righteous art thou, O Lord, and right are thy judgments.


a bruised reed he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice.


Thus says the Lord: “What wrong did your fathers find in me that they went far from me, and went after worthlessness, and became worthless?


But who are you, a man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me thus?”
