Shall one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty,


who shows no partiality to princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor, for they are all the work of his hands?


“You shall not revile God, nor curse a ruler of your people.


To impose a fine on a righteous man is not good; to flog noble men is wrong.


Then Paul said to him, “God shall strike you, you whitewashed wall! Are you sitting to judge me according to the law, and yet contrary to the law you order me to be struck?”


And Paul said, “I did not know, brethren, that he was the high priest; for it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’ ”


Pay all of them their dues, taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.


Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.


and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority. Bold and wilful, they are not afraid to revile the glorious ones,


Yet in like manner these men in their dreamings defile the flesh, reject authority, and revile the glorious ones.
