Does it seem good to thee to oppress, to despise the work of thy hands and favor the designs of the wicked?

“Behold, I know your thoughts, and your schemes to wrong me.


I cry to thee and thou dost not answer me; I stand, and thou dost not heed me.


“Yet does not one in a heap of ruins stretch out his hand, and in his disaster cry for help?


I go about blackened, but not by the sun; I stand up in the assembly, and cry for help.


For Job has said, ‘I am innocent, and God has taken away my right;


Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be justified?


The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; he covers the faces of its judges— if it is not he, who then is it?


For he is not a man, as I am, that I might answer him, that we should come to trial together.


O my God, I cry by day, but thou dost not answer; and by night, but find no rest.


Yet thou art holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.


For whenever I speak, I cry out, I shout, “Violence and destruction!” For the word of the Lord has become for me a reproach and derision all day long.
