He does not believe that he will return out of darkness, and he is destined for the sword.


He wanders abroad for bread, saying, ‘Where is it?’ He knows that a day of darkness is ready at his hand;


For the company of the godless is barren, and fire consumes the tents of bribery.


His roots dry up beneath, and his branches wither above.


He is thrust from light into darkness, and driven out of the world.


Utter darkness is laid up for his treasures; a fire not blown upon will devour him; what is left in his tent will be consumed.


saying, ‘Surely our adversaries are cut off, and what they left the fire has consumed.’


for that would be a fire which consumes unto Abaddon, and it would burn to the root all my increase.


By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of his anger they are consumed.


They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope at noonday as in the night.


but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.


For a burning place has long been prepared; yea, for the king it is made ready, its pyre made deep and wide, with fire and wood in abundance; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, kindles it.

These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm; for them the nether gloom of darkness has been reserved.
