But as he was speaking the king said to him, “Have we made you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be put to death?” So the prophet stopped, but said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”


The words of Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin,


‘The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, to have charge in the house of the Lord over every madman who prophesies, to put him in the stocks and collar.


and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them, “You have gone too far! For all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them; why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”


and said, “Sir, we remember how that imposter said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise again.’


saying, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and you intend to bring this man's blood upon us.”


So they took his advice, and when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.


As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of corrupt mind and counterfeit faith;


Anathoth with its pasture lands, and Almon with its pasture lands—four cities.
