The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.


The righteous has enough to satisfy his appetite, but the belly of the wicked suffers want.


If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;


When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst, I the Lord will answer them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.


I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.


They shall be turned back and utterly put to shame, who trust in graven images, who say to molten images, “You are our gods.”


Behold, all his fellows shall be put to shame, and the craftsmen are but men; let them all assemble, let them stand forth, they shall be terrified, they shall be put to shame together.


All who make idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit; their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame.


they shall not hunger or thirst, neither scorching wind nor sun shall smite them, for he who has pity on them will lead them, and by springs of water will guide them.


Therefore my people go into exile for want of knowledge; their honored men are dying of hunger, and their multitude is parched with thirst.


Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who set brands alight! Walk by the light of your fire, and by the brands which you have kindled! This shall you have from my hand: you shall lie down in torment.

You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like the grass; and it shall be known that the hand of the Lord is with his servants, and his indignation is against his enemies.


Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word: “Your brethren who hate you and cast you out for my name's sake have said, ‘Let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your joy’; but it is they who shall be put to shame.


They will pass through the land, greatly distressed and hungry; and when they are hungry, they will be enraged and will curse their king and their God, and turn their faces upward;


The wind shall shepherd all your shepherds, and your lovers shall go into captivity; then you will be ashamed and confounded because of all your wickedness.


And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.


They shall eat, but not be satisfied; they shall play the harlot, but not multiply; because they have forsaken the Lord to cherish harlotry.


Then once more you shall distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.
