“Moreover you know also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, how he dealt with the two commanders of the armies of Israel, Abner the son of Ner, and Amasa the son of Jether, whom he murdered, avenging in time of peace blood which had been shed in war, and putting innocent blood upon the girdle about my loins, and upon the sandals on my feet.


He looses the bonds of kings, and binds a waistcloth on their loins.


He pours contempt on princes, and looses the belt of the strong.


the God who girded me with strength, and made my way safe.


The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed, he is girded with strength. Yea, the world is established; it shall never be moved;


Then you will walk on your way securely and your foot will not stumble.


Righteousness shall be the girdle of his waist, and faithfulness the girdle of his loins.


Thus says the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have grasped, to subdue nations before him and ungird the loins of kings, to open doors before him that gates may not be closed:


I am the Lord, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I gird you, though you do not know me,
