Thou hast set up a banner for those who fear thee, to rally to it from the bow. Selah


May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth!


What will you do on the day of punishment, in the storm which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth?


He will raise an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.


On a bare hill raise a signal, cry aloud to them; wave the hand for them to enter the gates of the nobles.


I myself have commanded my consecrated ones, have summoned my mighty men to execute my anger, my proudly exulting ones.


Hark, a tumult on the mountains as of a great multitude! Hark, an uproar of kingdoms, of nations gathering together! The Lord of hosts is mustering a host for battle.


They come from a distant land, from the end of the heavens, the Lord and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole earth.


All you inhabitants of the world, you who dwell on the earth, when a signal is raised on the mountains, look! When a trumpet is blown, hear!


but you said, “No! We will speed upon horses,” therefore you shall speed away; and, “We will ride upon swift steeds,” therefore your pursuers shall be swift.


His rock shall pass away in terror, and his officers desert the standard in panic,” says the Lord, whose fire is in Zion, and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.


Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say? And whence did they come to you?” Hezekiah said, “They have come to me from a far country, from Babylon.”


In that day the Lord will whistle for the fly which is at the sources of the streams of Egypt, and for the bee which is in the land of Assyria.


Behold, he comes up like clouds, his chariots like the whirlwind; his horses are swifter than eagles— woe to us, for we are ruined!


Behold, I am bringing upon you a nation from afar, O house of Israel, says the Lord. It is an enduring nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you do not know, nor can you understand what they say.


“Set up a standard on the earth, blow the trumpet among the nations; prepare the nations for war against her, summon against her the kingdoms, Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz; appoint a marshal against her, bring up horses like bristling locusts.


Our pursuers were swifter than the vultures in the heavens; they chased us on the mountains, they lay in wait for us in the wilderness.


“Thus says the Lord God: Are you he of whom I spoke in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel, who in those days prophesied for years that I would bring you against them?


Like warriors they charge, like soldiers they scale the wall. They march each on his way, they do not swerve from their paths.


Their horses are swifter than leopards, more fierce than the evening wolves; their horsemen press proudly on. Yea, their horsemen come from afar; they fly like an eagle swift to devour.


“I will signal for them and gather them in, for I have redeemed them, and they shall be as many as of old.


For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a pure offering; for my name is great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.


The Lord will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you do not understand,
