Isaiah 49:23 - Revised Standard Version

23 Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. With their faces to the ground they shall bow down to you, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the Lord; those who wait for me shall not be put to shame.”

When Joseph came home, they brought into the house to him the present which they had with them, and bowed down to him to the ground.


All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord, for they have heard the words of thy mouth;


Yea, let none that wait for thee be put to shame; let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.


The Lord redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.


Let bronze be brought from Egypt; let Ethiopia hasten to stretch out her hands to God.


Let not those who hope in thee be put to shame through me, O Lord God of hosts; let not those who seek thee be brought to dishonor through me, O God of Israel.

But Israel is saved by the Lord with everlasting salvation; you shall not be put to shame or confounded to all eternity.


Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nations, the servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”


For the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been confounded; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame;


so shall he startle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths because of him; for that which has not been told them they shall see, and that which they have not heard they shall understand.


Therefore my people shall know my name; therefore in that day they shall know that it is I who speak; here am I.”


The sons of those who oppressed you shall come bending low to you; and all who despised you shall bow down at your feet; they shall call you the City of the Lord, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.


You shall suck the milk of nations, you shall suck the breast of kings; and you shall know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.


And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.


The nations shall see your vindication, and all the kings your glory; and you shall be called by a new name which the mouth of the Lord will give.


From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides thee, who works for those who wait for him.


And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the Lord.”


You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I, the Lord, am your God and there is none else. And my people shall never again be put to shame.


they shall lick the dust like a serpent, like the crawling things of the earth; they shall come trembling out of their strongholds, they shall turn in dread to the Lord our God, and they shall fear because of thee.

The scripture says, “No one who believes in him will be put to shame.”


and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us.


as it is written, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone that will make men stumble, a rock that will make them fall; and he who believes in him will not be put to shame.”


For it stands in scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and he who believes in him will not be put to shame.”


Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and learn that I have loved you.
